The United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) and eGov Foundation have partnered to digitalize health services, advance people’s access to health and build resilient and sustainable systems for health worldwide. The partnership will employ eGov’s DIGIT platform to scale-up innovative responses to the HIV, tuberculosis and malaria epidemics and expand digital health infrastructure and capacity, as part of UNDP’s mission to end poverty an inequality globally.
DIGIT (Digital Infrastructure for Governance and Inclusive Transformation) is eGov’s open-source, modular and interoperable platform that enables governments to rapidly deploy integrated and inclusive public services, including for health, finance, local governance and sanitation. DIGIT helps countries build multi-sectoral digital public goods that can be adapted to country needs and improve the oversight, efficiency and cost-effectiveness of public services.

Through UNDP’s partnership with the Global Fund to Fight AIDS, Tuberculosis and Malaria, UNDP and eGov will initially focus on expanding the use of data and digital technology to increase access to malaria services in Burundi, including the delivery of bed nets for malaria prevention to the last mile. The collaboration will strengthen technical capacity for digitalizing mass campaigns by providing training, knowledge resources and advisory services to UNDP Burundi, the Ministry of Public Health and the Fight Against HIV and other local partners.
“This collaboration is completely in line with eGov’s Theory of Change. We are confident that by working with UNDP, we can catalyze public service delivery that can lead to meaningful, large-scale impact. Through the DIGIT platform, governments can be enabled to deliver public services more effectively and inclusively, transforming the lives of millions of citizens,”
– Viraj Tyagi, CEO, eGov Foundation.
As a technical partner to UNDP’s Digital Health for Development Hub, eGov will help governments streamline processes, use data for decision-making and improve governance toachieve health and well-being for all, reducing inequalities that fuel disease and pandemics. Digitalization will further enhance the resilience and sustainability of national health systems by strengthening the technical capacity to prevent, prepare and respond to future health challenges.
