About Us

The Journey
So far

Journey So far

We started by working in the trenches of wards and ULBs of Karnataka in 2003 to understand problems on ground and how Digital Platform can help in making cities better. Over the last 17 years, we have worked with 14 states in more than 1000 ULBs across India to ensure that every citizen in every city of India should be able to access all services they need with ease and transparency. While the progress we’ve made is exciting, we know there is still much more to do to build a thriving, digitally-enabled ecosystem in all 4000+ towns and cities in India.

Vision

Catalyse urban transformation and enhance ease of living and ease of doing business at national scale

Mission

Embedding an open digital infrastructure to transfrom governance in 4400+ ULBs by 2024

Values

Working with the ecosystem towards a common goal and sharing a bigger purpose, we are driven by our core values- Trust, Collaboration, Ownership, Courage, Openness and Empathy. Our values are both our identity and our promise.

  • Trust
  • Collaboration
  • Ownership
  • Courage
  • Openness
  • Empathy

Trust

We keep our promises and create an environment where people feel safe in expressing their opinions. We listen carefully, speak candidly, and treat others respectfully. We own up to our shortfalls and are not embarrassed of being vocally self-critical.

Collaboration

We challenge ideas and not individuals. We show respect and value for the skills, experiences, creativity, and contributions of our ecosystem and embrace diversity. Listening to and acknowledging the feelings, concerns, opinions, and ideas of others is our way of interacting. We share information, ideas, and suggestions in a respectful manner. We support the final decisions of our ecosystem, even if not in total agreement, in line with the larger goal.

Ownership

We care about the outcomes of our approaches and acknowledge our mistakes and failures. We are go-getters and take initiative to address societal challenges and distribute the ability to solve these challenges.

Courage

We make tough decisions without agonizing and take calculated and informed risks. Resilience is a quality that we imbibe and exercise.

Openness

We are open and share relevant information with others in a timely and effective manner and encourage others to do the same. We are open to learning and exploring new approaches of working in the ecosystem.

Empathy

We listen to understand rather than to respond, and engage with kindness, conscience, and people-mindedness. We observe and use our ears, eyes and “gut instinct” to understand the entire message that is being communicated. We go deep to identify root causes and solve the underlying problems.

The success of this initiative is driven by how the citizens of the state are enabled to access the services of the Planning Authorities anytime, anywhere. These services will also have a direct impact on the Ease of Doing Business ranking for the state which has been one of our priority focus areas. We believe that DIGIT open platform will be a key enabler in the areas of online building permission system and help Planning Authorities to create a citizen-centric urban governance

eChhawani is inaugurated today with 8 municipal services and I’m confident that this will continue to enhance citizen centric services for residents of our Cantonment Boards. This is a great step towards ‘good governance’ and is a shining example of India’s emergence as a leader in various sectors offering ease of doing business and ease of living for citizens. I congratulate all stakeholders involved in this initiative and I expect that officers will continue to take feedback from the citizens on whether this initiative is fulfilling the aim of citizen centric governance.
